Flattening Testing for Pipes

Plastic deformation and defects are determined by pressing and flattening metal pipes/tubes in certain proportions. Length of pipe/tube specimens is 1.5 times of their diameter (10 mm – 100 mm). In welded pipes/tubes, the weld seam is positioned at a 90° angle to the upper and lower pressure plates.

Standards:

TS EN ISO 8492: For determining the ability of metallic tubes of circular cross-section to undergo plastic deformation by flattening. It may also be used to reveal the defects in the tubes.
