Tensile Testing

At a fixed tensile speed and a constant temperature, a tensile specimen is strained up to break by uniaxial static tensile force.

Tensile test provides yield, ultimate tensile and break stresses, deformation ratios, E-modulus, tensile toughness, resilience etc. These results have been used for quality control, material selection for any application and to predict how the material will behave under other forces.

Standards:

TS EN ISO 6892-X: Tensile testing of metallic materials and defines the mechanical properties.

TS EN ISO 4136: Destructive tests on welds in metallic materials – Transverse tensile test

TS EN 12814-2: Testing of welded joints of thermoplastics semi- finished products- Part 2: Tensile test
